We recommend to bring a small bag with the clothes you will need for the days you are going to stay in Tambopata, the rest of the luggage can be left at our Ecolodge in Puerto Maldonado. The weight at the boat is very important because it affects the time of boat trip.
LODGES
In the Wasaí Maldonado Ecolodge in Puerto Maldonado you don’t even need to use repellent.
In Wasaí Tambopata Lodge all beds have individual mosquito nets for the night and the electrical light works from 6.00 pm until 10.00 pm at night Mosquitoes in this area are not so big and they usually don’t bite through the clothes and go out at certain hour of the day (around 5.00 pm) , but it is not so bad as you think, don’t worry.
VACCINES
Yellow fever vaccination is recommended but not obligatory. However, if you decide to take it, you should do it at least 10 days before your arrival in order to be effective.
It is not necessary to take Malaria pills . There have been no cases of Malaria since many years ago and the secondary effects of this treatment are not so good.
Note: there have not been any case of yellow fever and malaria in the zone for the last 25 years.
