Just one hour from Puerto Maldonado (national capital of biodiversity) is located one of the most beautiful natural regions of the Tambopata-Candamo Reserve Zone. This lake allows for a pleasant look at the magnificence and splendor of south Peruvian Amazonia.

Reception at the airport and transportation to the WASAI MALDONADO ECOLODGE, where you will receive a welcoming tropical fruit beverage. Accommodation in your bungalows. Lunch (or Box Lunch on route according to the arrival time of flights).

You will embark for a 30 minutes motorboat trip up the Madre de Dios River until the access trail to the Lake. 3 Km. hike to the banks of the lake. We will have the opportunity to observe the great diversity of species of flora in this zone and maybe a troop of monkeys or other animals which live in the Reserve.

There we will board a canoe to paddle around the lake enjoying the beauty of the landscape and observing the wildlife, such as kingfishers, herons, hoatzins (unique prehistoric looking birds) monkeys, etc. If we are lucky we could see the family of giant otters which live there. We will have the opportunity to swim in the lake. Search for caimans. ( L, D)

After breakfast we will make a 1.5 hour river journey by the Madre de Dios River to the Rescue Center of Taricaya. We will spend the day making different activities such as visit to the Rescue Center of Animals to be reintroduced to the jungle.

Canopy at the top level of the trees (43 mts high) and visit to the Gamitana Island where an Ese Eja family will teach us about their culture and customs. Return to the WASAI MALDONADO ECOLODGE in the afternoon. Farewell dinner. Rest of the night free to enjoy the night life of this welcoming town. Opportunity to buy some souvenirs. (B, L, D)
