Trujillo, is located in the north of the Peruvian coast, at 34 meters above the sea, is the capital city of the La Libertad region and one of the cities with most population in Peru. It’s a friendly and colonial city, which is at the same time one of the main economy and cultural centers of the Northern Peru. Even more, it is the capital of the Marinera dance and the Peruvian El paso horse breeding. It was also the center of the Chimú culture (1100-1400 ad), whose Chan Chan citadel is the largest mud-brick construction in America. The Huaca del Sol, a stepped pyramid 20 meters high, the Huaca de la Luna, with fascinating murals representing the rituals of the Mochicas, and the Brujo Complex distinguished for an adobe pyramid of 30 meters high and over 15 centuries old, are evidence of the greatness of the first people to inhabit the north coast of Peru.
The center of the city has numerous buildings with a colonial style with oustanding artistic windows railings in wrought iron, adding a touch of distinction and elegance to Trujillo´s architecture.
These days, Trujillo combines the precolombian with the Republic and Colonial arquitecture giving to the city a special enchantment.
For these reasons, there is no doubt that everyone who gets to know Trujillo, the land of the sun and the eternal springtime, will want to come back. |
