Gold mining has been the key economic activity in this region, constitute an attraction along the Madre de Dios River, its high price makes that great part of the population work extracting it by hand on the riverbanks.

It’s easy to see miners along the river, or even to participate in this activity.

Most of the tourist circuits including zones where the gold mining is practice. You only have to come down from the boat to know more about the extracting process and its recovery.
